Please join us for a fun garden work party on Sunday, October 6, from 9 a.m. until noon. We will be cleaning out all of the raised beds and getting them ready for the classrooms to begin their fall gardening! We’ll also be planting some herbs in pots and around the garden. Stop by for the morning, or for just 30 minutes — we’d love to see you! Children are welcome too!

The Seattle climate is perfect for fall gardening! Salad greens, kale, chard, and many other crops thrive in our cooler weather. Classrooms will enjoy harvesting their crops later this fall, and some may choose to donate some or all of their crops to the Greenwood Food Bank, as we have done many times in the past.

If you are interested in helping your child’s teacher with lessons in the garden, please speak up! Talk to your child’s teacher about what you might be able to do. (No gardening experience is needed, we can help you!) The teachers need volunteer support to get their classrooms out into the garden, so please help if you can! We’ll have volunteer sign-up forms at the work party.

p.s. Parking may be challenging with the church services on Sunday morning, so consider walking or biking. We’ll have all the supplies needed — gloves and yard waste bags have been provided by the District — so just bring yourselves!
